Govind Ballabh Pant passed away. He had served eight years as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. He was bestowed with Bharat Ratna in 1959.

6/8/1948Malabar Princess', Air India's first international flight, takes off from Bombay to London via Cairo and Geneva. This was weekly air service was started between India to United Kingdom.

2/10/1946Amir Timur of Timur Lang invaded India with 92 squadrons of horses and 90,000 cavalry and reached the banks of Sindhu river near Atak city (now in Pakistan). He then attacked Delhi because its Muslim Sultanate was too tolerant of Hindu idolatry. A Mongolian follower of Sufism, he was one of the most ruthless of all conquerors. Timur crossed the Indus River at Attock (now in Pakistan) on 24 September 1398.

10/24/1953Selection of the Dassault Ouragan fighter from France at this time reflected the decision to initiate diversification of supply sources. The first four of over 100 Ouragans, or 'Toofanis' as they were to become known in the IAF, reached Palam Airport from France and this type re-equipped Nos.8, 3 and 4 Squadrons in that order.
