Malabar Princess', Air India's first international flight, takes off from Bombay to London via Cairo and Geneva. This was weekly air service was started between India to United Kingdom.

12/25/1880Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed Ansari, a nationalist Muslim leader, politician and journalist, was born at Yusufpur in Uttar Pradesh.
1/4/1948Burma achieved its independence from Great Britain. In 1989, Burma changed its name to Myanmar to reflect the multi-ethnic composition of the country. Apart from the Burmese, the main ethnic minority groups are the Karen, Shan, Mon, Chin, and Kachin. Just as the Burmese did against the British, almost all of these ethnic groups have struggled against the Burmese government for self-determination.

4/22/1983Smt. Indira Gandhi, Prime Minister of India, visited ICMR Headquarters and held discussions with senior scientists of ICMR. ICMR revived research on indigenous drugs/traditional medicine with a new, disease-oriented approach and a Scientific Advisory Group on Traditional Medicine Research was constituted in 1983 but actual studies (Multicentric Clinical Trials, Centres for Advanced Research, Central Biostatistical Monitoring Unit etc.) were started in 1984-85.
