5/7/1907The First Electric Tramway service commenced in Bombay (Mumbai). This service was inaugurated by Municipality Chairman Vallabhdas Thakersey and Municipal Commissioner Sheppard at 5.30 p.m. This tram was well decorated and destined from Municipal Office upto Crawford Market.
5/7/1907Queen Elizabeth I granted its Royal Charter to the 218 Knights and merchants of the City of London who formed the East India Company. The venture failed to achieve its stated objectives -- it made little impression on the Dutch control of the spice trade and could not establish a lasting outpost in the East Indies.
