Acharya Vinoba Bhave, great freedom fighter and social reformer, died (88 years) in Pawnar Ashram at Wardha near Nagpur, Maharashtra.

6/28/1972Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis died. He was the first founder of Indian statistical Institute to receive world recognition. In 1958, he started his national sample surveys. A Sample survey means assessing a situation by studying a part of it which would represent the whole, some of his proposals were included in the second five year paln. His original work made him elected as fellow of the Royal society in 1945.
6/1/1944Liladhar Jagudi, well known Hindi poet, passed away.
10/20/1920Censor Board, after examining the film 'Ahilya Uddhar' on October 20, started mentioning the number of reels as well as the length in feet on the Censor Certificate. The film had already been released earlier on August 23, 1919.
