9/6/1961D. N. Kohli was appointed as the Narcotics Commissioner of India. He headed this office till 28-05-1966.
11/19/1838Keshab Chandra Sen (1838-84), nationalist leader of Bengal, was born in Calcutta. He was one of the first Indians to sow the seeds of secularism in the country. He joined the Brahmo Samaj in 1857 but seperated from it in 1866 and founded Brahma Samaj of India, a radical offshoot of the Adi Brahmo Samaj.
1/1/1903Sen also produced the first publicity films of India--""Jaba Kusum Hair Oil'' and ''Edward's Anti-malaria Specific''. He also filmed the celebrations of the Coronation of King Edward VII at Calcutta.

6/19/1901Raj Chandra Bose, Indian mathematician and statistician, was born at Hosangabad in Madhya Pradesh. He made many valuable contributions to the subject. He discovered new codes for telecommunication. In 1976, America's highest honour to a scientist came to Bose as he was elected Fellow of the US Academy of Sciences.
