Andhra records 625 more Covid cases; tally 8.67 lakh

Amaravati, Nov 29 (IANS) Andhra Pradesh has registered 625 new Covid cases, increasing the states tally to 8.67 lakh, even as 1,186 more patients recovered from the virus to outnumber infections on Saturday.

Krishna district accounted for the highest number of cases, 103, followed by West Godavari (93), Visakhapatnam (88), Guntur (68), Chittoor (61), East Godavari (54) and Vizianagaram (29).

Among other places, Prakasam (27), Nellore (24), Kurnool (22), Anantapur (21), Kadapa (19) and Srikakulam (16).

With the new additions, East Godavari continues to shoulder the highest number of cases at 1.22 lakh.

Meanwhile, five more people succumbed to the virus on Saturday, raising the total number of Covid deaths in the state to 6,981.

Chittoor district has witnessed the highest number of Covid deaths at 825.

On Saturday, 1,186 more patients recovered from the virus to increase the total number of recoveries to 8.48 lakh, narrowing the gap between total infections and recoveries.

Of the 8.67 lakh cases, active cases have plummeted to 11,571.
